The 13 Best Movies of 2025

The Best Films of 2025

List compiled by

Ray Manukay

My goal was to assemble a list that represents the absolute best of the year—a collection I can look back on to capture both the caliber of the films and the specific tone of 2025. While other films might be technically superior or more critically acclaimed, the movies on this list better align with my personal sensibilities. I believe the cynical times we are living through affected my overall outlook; I found myself wanting to connect with movies that were more life-affirming and enjoyable.
I decided to limit my "official" list to thirteen movies, but I also want to recognize several others as Honorable Mentions. These may not be labeled as "important" by critics in the same way as Award Season darlings like FrankensteinBlue MoonHamnet, and Marty Supremewhich were all solid films, if a bit dry and long-winded.
The fact is, I simply didn't enjoy those prestige films as viscerally as the crowd-friendly ones mentioned here. These are the movies I will likely return to for years to come, rather than those I watch once and never revisit.
So, without further ado, here are my favorite films of 2025:
