A Marvel Television Special Presentation
Mission Briefing
From director Reinaldo Marcus Green and starring Jon Bernthal. THE PUNISHER: ONE LAST KILL – A 60-minute Special Presentation on Disney+.
Frank Castle has spent years trying to bury the skull and leave the war behind. But when a shadow from his past resurfaces and threatens the few people he has left, the pacifist life is over. This isn't a search for justice, it's a final act of retribution.
Set following the explosive events of Daredevil: Born Again, this special promises a brutal, TV-MA dive into the cost of vengeance and the psyche of Marvel’s most dangerous anti-hero.

The Official Trailer
The Breakdown: A War Within
One of the most anticipated Marvel projects this year is the Special Presentation The Punisher: One Last Kill. This event marks the return of Frank Castle, fresh from his appearance in Daredevil: Born Again and serving as a vital bridge before his big-screen debut in Spider-Man: Brand New Day.
The first thing that strikes you in this trailer is the tone. This is a grounded hero who is clearly "going through it." We see a Frank Castle who is struggling to move past his self-imposed "mission" while desperately trying to outrun the ghosts of his previous life. The atmosphere is heavy, weary, and deeply personal.
The Meaning of "One Last Kill"
There has been a massive amount of speculation regarding the title. While many fans are theorizing that this might mark the beginning of the definitive end for Frank Castle, concluding in Spider-Man Brand New Day, I believe it might just signal a philosophical shift in his brand of justice.
Castle is notoriously known to exact capital punishment at the drop of a hat. However, we may be looking at a situation, mirroring certain comic book arcs, where Frank’s "kill policy" changes. Perhaps "One Last Kill" suggests he will begin to spare certain targets, incapacitating them so they can face the legal system. This would also help explain Frank Castle staying out of the cross hairs of super powered heroes, like Spider-Man, who disagree with his way of administrating justice. Of course, this is just my theory, it could also just be a clever, ominous title for his most brutal mission yet.
The War Journal Legacy
Growing up, The Punisher was my favorite comic book. I always loved the War Journal narration, those personal thoughts and tactical insights he shared while investigating crimes. While various screen iterations have struggled to capture that specific internal monologue, Jon Bernthal’s portrayal is the one that rings most true to the character's core.
This trailer feels like a high-stakes continuation of the Netflix series, which remains arguably the best Marvel content produced for that platform. I am incredibly eager to see how this translates on May 12, particularly how this dark, TV-MA world will eventually collide with the drastically different tone of the upcoming Spider-Man film.
Tactical Intel
- Bridge to the Big Screen: This special is confirmed to set the stage for Frank Castle’s involvement in Spider-Man: Brand New Day later this year.
- The Gnucci Threat: Sharp-eyed fans spotted a "G" crest in the background of the penthouse fight, all but confirming the Gnucci Crime Family as the primary antagonists.
- Director's Vision: Reinaldo Marcus Green (King Richard) was chosen specifically to bring a "grounded, character-first" approach to the violence.
- The Running Time: Despite being called a "Special Presentation," the runtime is a tight, action-packed 60 minutes.
