Ready or Not 2: Here I Come continues the entertaining saga of Grace Le Domas as she attempts to survive a global game of Hide and Seek against a cursed cult determined to murder her. This time, she is joined unwillingly by her sister, Faith, played with effective charm by Kathryn Newton. The film functions as a twisted family drama, forcing the duo to resolve deep-seated sibling issues while fighting for their lives on the run. 

The hunt features a fantastic ensemble, including the formidable Sarah Michelle Gellar of Buffy the Vampire Slayer fame, a menacing Shawn Hatosy as her brother and an amusingly intense Nestor Carbonell. Acting as the "arbitrator and adjudicator" in this wicked game is Elijah Wood, who delivers several standout moments as a dry, witty witness to the surrounding madness.

Admittedly, this second chapter lacks the unpredictable charm of the 2019 original, largely because the audience is now prepped for the world's lethal surprises. The plot also suffers from slightly lower stakes for Grace; as she has become a vital institution for this growing franchise, her survival never feels truly in doubt. However, it is still immensely fun to watch Samara Weaving be put through hell before completing her evolution into a full-on action heroine. While the fear for survival transfers to Faith, the risk feels minimal given her importance to Grace's journey. 

Ultimately, because the stakes are lower, Ready or Not 2 Here I Come works better as a dark comedy with high-octane action rather than the genuine survival horror of its predecessor. With a third film seemingly inevitable, speculating on where the Le Bail legacy goes next is part of the fun. Whatever that story turns out to be, it is sure to be amusing.
