Jurrasic World Rebirth - Review: A life-affirming work that proves there is still mileage left in these dinosaurs.

Jurassic World Rebirth

A life-affirming work that proves there is still mileage left in these dinosaurs.

★★★½☆

Decades after the franchise began with the original Jurassic Park, the latest installment, Jurassic World Rebirth, proves there is still life left in these films. Aided by an engaging cast led by Scarlett Johansson, Manuel Garcia-Rulfo, and Rupert Friend, the special-effect-laden suspense and heart-stopping action continue with some new set pieces and fun ideas.

"Yes, there are still chase sequences and gory kills. So fans will still get that adrenaline rush. But it's nice to see there is still some mileage left in these dinosaurs."
Ray Manukay

Director Gareth Edwards (Rogue One, The Creator) brings a grounded, visceral sense of scale to the dinosaurs. It’s a nice touch that breathes much-needed life into the proceedings while maintaining the awe and wonder of the original.

Full Review

Decades after the franchise first began with the original Jurassic Park, the latest installment, Jurassic World Rebirth, proves there is still plenty of life left in these films. Aided by an engaging cast led by Scarlett Johansson, Manuel Garcia-Rulfo, and Rupert Friend, the special-effect-laden suspense and heart-stopping action continue with inventive new set pieces and fun ideas to force the interaction of humans and dinosaurs in this new era.

The plot concerns the high-stakes need to attain dinosaur DNA in order to create a medical breakthrough that could potentially extend human life. This tweak in the Jurassic World Rebirth storyline adds significant stakes to the standard story of survival; it is a nice touch that breathes some much-needed life into the proceedings. But obviously, that's not what audiences are really here for—they are here to believe in the return of dinosaurs, and Rebirth does just that convincingly.

Yes, there are still the signature chase sequences and gory kills, so fans will still get that familiar adrenaline rush. It’s nice to see there is still some mileage left in these dinosaurs. I admit I may be biased, as I still vividly remember the awe and wonder of watching the first film on opening night in a packed Westwood theater. The Jurassic Park franchise remains a comfort cinematic series that legitimately entertains the entire family.

Sure, artists are going to have to dig deeper to find truly new ground for this series to continue, but I believe these movies can continue to thrill audiences for generations to come. Hopefully, this is just the start of a successful new chapter. If you're looking for that classic blockbuster thrill, Jurassic World Rebirth delivers exactly what you're looking for.

🏆 Final Verdict

Jurassic World Rebirth is a successful return to form. While it follows the series' comfort-food formula, the technical execution and renewed stakes ensure these movies will continue to thrill audiences for generations to come.
