Official Synopsis
Set in the San Fernando Valley in the late 1970s and early 80s, Paul Thomas Anderson's sprawling epic follows the rise and fall of Dirk Diggler (Mark Wahlberg). Discovered in a nightclub by porn director Jack Horner (Burt Reynolds), the young busboy becomes a superstar in the "golden age" of the adult film industry. The film tracks the dysfunctional surrogate family that surrounds them as they navigate a changing cultural landscape, shifting from the idealistic artistry of film to the cold, drug-fueled reality of video.
